Just as high definition technology has improved what we see on television, Solidar is the high definition version of lens coatings. As well, Solidar reduces lens reflections enabling the wearer to maximize viewing without distracting glare. Available with the Solidar coating is ease of cleaning; the outside of the lens is protected with the most effective repellent surface available today, so that dirt, grime and debris are easily washed away.
Our Process
How is Solidar made? The lenses are first stripped and cleaned in a
7 bath liquid solution and dried in a clean room environment. Next, a specially formulated abrasion resistant coating is applied. Finally the lenses are coated by a digitally controlled process in a high vacuum chamber with a proprietary combination of materials to create the Solidar coating. To facilitate the lens edging process, a temporary micro-film anti-slip layer is applied to both surfaces of the lens, which is subsequently removed after the lenses are edged.
